Blumira Engineering has added additional alerting to ensure this degradation cannot occur again without immediate notification. Additionally Blumira Engineering will be reworking email sending to ensure additional reliability when under load.
This issue was opened retrospectively, it was discovered through emails not being delivered as expected. The outgoing email queue was failing to process email through Sendgrid (Blumira email provider) properly resulting in delayed email delivery. The messaging service was inspected, restarted, and scaled up to ingest the email in the queue and was processed within 10 minutes of issue discovery. This did not impact any other sending methods such as Phone or Text messaging.
